Discipleship DNA

Storytelling

Building Block

Another important building block of Discipleship DNA is STORYTELLING. Each of us no matter if we have been in the Church our whole lives or had a miraculous later life conversion experience, have a beautiful and wonderful story to tell. Just before Jesus ascends to heaven in the book of Acts, He tells His disciples to be His witnesses “in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) As witnesses we have stories to tell – stories of how Jesus changed our lives, stories of God working throughout Scripture, stories of what God is doing in the world today, etc. We as His followers must allow storytelling to become part of our DNA!

Below are a list of tools/resources to help you develop the DNA of Storytelling.

People say all the time ‘I don’t have a good testimony’ because they think their story has to involve some dramatic story of change from ‘bad’ to ‘good’. But Jesus didn’t come to save people this way. Sin doesn’t make us bad it makes us dead. Jesus came to save by bringing the dead to life. And that’s an amazing testimony. (Louie Giglio)
